A Naked cafe
… and protester

NO MATTER how much it feels like winter will never end this year, spring is around the corner.

And, with spring, comes March break. Isaac Lamoureux finds out what some of the city’s kids will be getting up to with a feature on the day camps around town.

We all know him, and most of us tolerate him: Ethan Laperle talks to the “Jesus sign guy,” who pops up around the city promoting redemption, and finds out that he really isn’t so terribly different from the rest of us.

Edmonton played host to the Juno Awards show last Monday, and our Kieran Fong was there. He talks about how a topless woman became the highlight of one of Canada’s biggest – and dullest – awards shows.

While we’re on the subject of nudity, Gwyneth Bignell talks to the owner of Naked cyber cafe – a downtown institution for more than 20 years – and finds a man who is dedicated to his city.

The murder of two Edmonton Police constables earlier this month shook the community. But nowhere is the feeling as palpable as at the apartment complex where the crime occurred, local resident Theodora MacLeod writes.

From digital to acoustic: Taylor Harrison reviews the return of the Davis Concert Organ to the spotlight, with an ESO program built around Saint-Saëns’s Organ Symphony.

MacLeod unearths some of the lost history hidden in our city’s cemeteries, tracking down the story behind one of Edmonton’s most elaborate grave monuments.

Finally, managing editor Harrison asks a question no one else has been thinking: Why doesn’t downtown Edmonton have more makerspaces?
